The number of voters has declined by over 9,000 in the second display of voters’ lists in Chin State.

The first display of voters’ lists covered 342,137 voters. The number of eligible voters on the second display has been reduced to 332,698, down 9,439 compared with the first list.

U Lin Kyaw, Secretary of the Chin State Election Sub-Commission said: “There were applications with Form-3 when the lists were displayed for the first time. There was a decrease in the number of voters after the sub-commission scrutinized the lists door to door in cooperation with the administrative bodies. Thanks to the door-to-door scrutiny, it is found that some families are no longer living there. Some people included in the lists have passed away while some others moved to other countries. The number of voters on the second display has dropped after the deduction of the said numbers.”

The lists of voters are being displayed at the relevant sub-commission office from 1 to 14 October, for the second time.

“I would like to urge the people to check the lists by one each from one family. If they are unable to go to the offices, they can ask the relevant township sub-commission whether their names are included in the lists or not, by dialing the sub-commission phone numbers. If the facts are not correct and the names of voters are not included in the list, they can apply to the ward and village sub-commission office with Form-4. If they are unable to go to the office for the submission of the application, they can send the application Form-3 through the township sub-commission’s internet.

There are 253 Chin ex-pats who applied for voting in the November 8 Election with Form-15. Chin State is formed with four districts and nine townships.

The sub-commission plans to open 1114 polling stations across Chin State.
