Anti-coup protests continue in Haungpar village-tract in Hpakant Township in Kachin State although protests in some regions have stopped, due to brutal crackdowns according to locals.

A local from Haungpar said: “I participate in the protests every day. I also staged a protest against the military “slave education” when the schools opened. The abbot of the North Haungpar monastery led the plan to open the school. The abbot and the militia are organizing taking security measures at the school.”

Authorities searched the houses of those who are assumed to be protest leaders, and seized photos. But no one has been arrested so far.

“There are many informants. Militia challenged the persons who staged a protest in front of the school,” he added.

In addition, hundreds of people stage anti-coup protests in Tarmakham village of Haungpar village-tract in Hpakant Township.
