Over 28,000 homes and facilities, including religious buildings, were torched from last February's coup to this July, according to the data released by the Institute for Strategy and Policy – Myanmar (ISP – Myanmar).

According to ISP Myanmar, homes and buildings were damaged by arson attacks and shelling by the junta armed forces during the conflict.

In Sagaing, more than 20,000 houses and buildings were burned down to ashes, followed by Magway, with more than 5,000 houses and buildings destroyed.

Over 2,200 homes and buildings have been set on fire in Chin, Kayah, Shan and Mon States, and Bago and Taninthary regions.

At least 535 houses and buildings were destroyed by fire in the first half of July, including more than 280 houses in Sagaing Region and 230 in Magway Region, and at least six civilians were killed, according to ISP Myanmar.

The ISP Myanmar stated that the data was compiled based on the statements of independent media and civil organizations, and that the figure on the ground could be higher.
