State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said yesterday that the government always welcomed ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) which had not yet signed Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) to join the peace process anytime.

“We always open our doors for political negotiations and 21st Panglong Peace Conference. This is our policy and principle. We always welcome those groups who want to join the peace process at any time.”

State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi was speaking during the opening address delivered at 12th meeting of Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) held at National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) in Naypyitaw on October 30.

“I request UPDJC members to help remaining EAOs which have not yet signed NCA to join the peace process,” Aung San Suu Kyi said.

The 12th meeting of UPDJC, will discuss topics to be for the upcoming third meeting of Union Peace Conference/21st Panglong Peace Conference, venues, agendas and procedures for holding national-level political negotiations, papers to be presented and discussed at UPDJC working committees, and submitting Union Accord Part 1 as reached at second meeting of 21st Panglong Peace Conference to Union Parliament.

The meeting will continue today, October 31.
