NMSP-AD Releases Three Workers It Abducted

On 9 November 2024 the New Mon State Party - Anti-Dictatorship (NMSP-AD) released three plywood factory employees it had abducted and detained for three days.

NMSP-AD members came to the Honda Myanmar plywood factory  in Kyaikywea Village, Mudon Township on 6 November and detained three employees: the manager, U Tin Tun Aung; the supervisor, U Bo Bo, and a Chinese national, before taking them away.

After the NMSP-AD abducted the three workers junta soldiers launched a search operation on 7 November in the forested area between  Kyaikywea Village and Letkhet Hill, where NMSP-AD troops were believed to be heading.

According to sources close to the factory the three workers are now being interrogated by junta soldiers following their release by the NMSP-AD.

According to an NMSP-AD spokesperson, Nai Banya Mon, the NMSP-AD had ordered all businesses in the area to contact them and as they had not heard from the Honda Myanmar plywood factory they abducted the company’s employees.

The NMSP-AD is a Mon armed resistance group that is fighting the junta. It split from its parent organisation, the New Mon State Party (NMSP) after the NMSP refused to oppose the junta.
