The Chief negotiator of ethnic armed organizations-signatories (EAO-S), Col. Sai Ngin, said that they would jointly implement the terms included in Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) until successfully completed.

He was speaking at the coordination meeting between signatories and the union government held at the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) in Yangon on September 10.

The coordination meeting is taking place on September 10 and 11. On the first day, the delegates discussed proposals submitted by the government for progress of the peace process and opinions held by the ten EAOs.

NRPC Vice-Chairman and Union Attorney General Tun Tun Oo urged all attendees to explore ways for solving difficulties encountered in the implementation of the NCA and resuming the peace talks which have been suspended.

Currently, ten EAOs have signed NCA but organizations led by United Wa State Army (UWSA) namely Kachin Independence Army (KIA), Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP), Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA or Kokang group), Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Arakan Army (AA) have not yet signed the ceasefire agreement.

The signatories of NCA are All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), Arakan Liberation Party (ALP), Chin National Front (CNF), Democratic Karen Benevolence Army (DKBA), Karen National Union (KNU), Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO), Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS),  KNU Peace Council (KNU/KNLA-PC), New Mon State Party (NMSP) and Lahu Democratic Union (LDU).
