Myanmar’s NUG to launch alternative fiscal system

The Internal Revenue Department of the National Unity Government (NUG) has announced that citizens may complete an online “Form (A)” to pay a number of personal taxes from 15 February onward, reports DVB.

The NUG’s Ministry for Planning, Finance and Investment has identified the establishment of an external fiscal system as a key pillar of its budget, alongside its Spring Lottery and bond issuance schemes.

The NUG is gradually setting up alternative governmental structures in what is in effect a parallel government, challenging the rule and control of the Myanmar junta that grabbed power just over a year ago in a coup.
