Myanmar plans to donate rice to Coronavirus-hit China

 Ministry of Foreign Affairs, deputy permanent secretary Aung Kyaw Zan said that Myanmar was planning to donate rice to China where hundreds of people have died from the Coronavirus outbreak.

“We will give a donation to support China. Our President sent a message which expresses sympathy and support to China,” deputy permanent secretary Aung Kyaw Zan said.

“We give food to them in accordance with our financial strength. We plan to give rice. We gave our proposal to give this donation. We will continue discussions and negotiations if they approve our proposal. We don’t know yet if they will accept it or not. We cannot give it without their approval. Negotiation is still underway for shipment of this donation. We have started to implement the donation plan,” he added.

Malaysia has donated gloves, Japan surgical masks and Canada personal protection equipment (PPE) to China.

Myanmar Ministry of Health and Sports issued press statement which says, in Myanmar, 8 persons were admitted in Loikaw Township hospital, Minbyar Township hospital, Waibargi hospital in North Okkalapa in Yangon, Naypyitaw 1,000-bed hospital, Sao San Tun hospital in Taunggyi and Namtu hospitals.
