A Muslim woman was killed in a heavy weapon firing yesterday in Kyauk Taw bridge, 80 miles north of the State capital city of Sittwe.
The deceased is identified as Myas Mina (30 years old), daughter of Ma Mak Tu Chuo hailing from upper Kan Pike Pit Sit Mualim village.
The incident took place at half past seven last night, as a shell fell on her house and it injured the lady severely, said a resident.
“She was sent to a nearby hospital but succumbed to injuries. Her body was brought back to the village. We are sure that the shell was fired by army personnel, stationed at Kyauk Taw pagoda mountain.
The lady died of severe injuries to her right thigh. She was brought to Apauk Wa station hospital at around 8 pm, but did not survive. She was said to be married.

Army members conducted a mine attack on the military personnel near the Kisapanadi bridge of Kyauk Taw township.
Besides Myas Mina, three other women from Min Bya township were killed in army shelling yesterday. The victims have been identified as Ma Hla San Yin (23) and Ma San New Soe (10) from Palong Byint village and Daw Ma Mya Soe (a teacher of Daunk Chaung Gyi village school).
