A Muslim boy from Sin Thay Pyin village, Buthidaung Township, in northern Arakan State was shot and injured on July 28.

The boy’s father, Nuzar Man, told DMG that his son, 15, was hit on his arm by an artillery shell as he was trying to pull cows back into their village to save them from a barrage of gun fire.

“They were shooting big weapons and it’s dangerous because the artillery shells are landing near the village. Now, my son got hit by an artillery shell,” he said, adding that his son is being treated at Buthidaung hospital.

A total of 1,936 people live in Sin Thay Pyin village. When bullets began raining down near the village, all the residents had to leave their homes and flee to Phone Nyo Lake Muslim village.

On July 21 and 22, a 15-year-old girl, Nan Mar Mauk, and a pregnant woman from Sin Thay Pyin village were struck by bullets amid clashes between the Tatmadaw and AA. The pregnant woman’s baby was killed.

There are six villages, including Sin Thay Pyin, O Yin Thar, Cha Shar Taung and Htike Tu Pauk, in San Go Taung village tract in Buthidaung Township, and fighting has broken out near them very often
