Mon National College and Payap University Sign MOU to Enhanced Higher Education Cooperation

Mon National College (MNC), operating under the Mon National Education Committee (MNEC), and Thailand's Payap University have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance higher education, according to the New Mon State newsletter.

MNC is actively seeking greater recognition from overseas universities to facilitate opportunities for its students to pursue international higher education.

Established in 2022 within Nyisar camp, a territory under the control of the New Mon State Party (NMSP), MNC provides education in six major subjects for the Associate Degree program outside of the Junta’s jurisdiction and severely depleted education sector.

The signing of  MoU took place on February 8th at Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand, marking a significant advancement for MNC.

Among the eight points outlined in the MoU, notable aspects include Payap University's commitment to recognizing MNC's students' qualifications, facilitating the transfer of academic scores, and accepting MNC's students for further studies at Payap.

Payap University and the MNC have mutually agreed to collaborate on coordinating courses and educational research activities, along with jointly conferring degrees.

As per the New Mon State newsletter, MNC has introduced nursing science as a new major starting from 2024 and is in the planning stages to offer a full bachelor's degree program in that field.
