MNEC to open Mon National College

The Mon National Education Committee (MNEC) is set to open Mon National College this academic year, the Mon education community told Than Lwin Times.

Applicants for Mon National College were invited to apply online.

The qualification tests for applicants were held at the NMSP-controlled Mon National Education Center in Ye Chaung Phya area; Thanbyuzayat Township Liaison Offices and Mon National Education Office in Mawlamyine.

General education development; Mon culture; English; Computer; Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI); teacher training; media and Mon language will all be taught at Mon National College.

The mission of Mon National College is to strengthen Mon people’s English language skills, provide international education, produce Mon literary scholars, nurture instructors, and develop good human resources.

Than Lwin Times contacted Mon National College officials to inquire about the number of applicants, but received no response as some processes were still pending.

Under the Mon National Education Committee (MNEC), there are more than 140 Mon national schools apart from Mon National College, with nearly 20,000 students.
