MNDAA And TNLA Attack Civilian Vehicle In Northern Shan State

A vehicle carrying rations for the Burma Army (BA) was ambushed by several ethnic armed organisations (EAOs) in Muse District, northern Shan State.

The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) destroyed the civilian vehicle near Lon Hkan village following the attack on 10 September.

An eyewitness told the KNG that the vehicle was overturned during the attack and the driver killed. According to villagers, the driver was a simple civilian whom BA had forced to transport rice for them.

''I saw MNDAA and TNLA soldiers passing our village," said another man from Lon Hkan. When the vehicle was attacked, no one went to see what was going on because of shelling and rifle fire, he explained.

The MNDAA and Kachin Independence Army (KIA) have been fighting with the BA in Muse's Mongkoe and Pang Hseng sub townships since early July.

All three EAOs frequently ambush the army, which has resulted in a large number of BA casualties in northern Shan and Kachin states.

Over 2,200 villagers have been displaced mainly due to BA offensives and indiscriminate shelling, which are often retaliatory strikes that follow ambushes.

Volunteers told KNG that civilians lack food, medicine and shelter and are afraid of getting COVID-19, which is spreading rapidly throughout Burma.

Fighting between the KIA and BA has continued since the military took over the country eight months ago.
