Four billion kyat-worth of ecstasy tablets seized in northern Rakhine State

The Maungdaw Township Police Force has confirmed that ecstasy tablets worth nearly 4 billion kyat was seized on October 1 from two military personnel serving in northern Rakhine State.

Police Maj. Kyaw Mya Win from Maungdaw Township Police Force said, “Yes, it’s true. We found these tablets at the entry to the town. We arrested and detained two military personnel from the Supplies Unit.”

In the afternoon of October 1 at the entry point of Buthidaung, 1,881,750 ecstasy tablets with WY and R brands were found and seized from a military vehicle along with two soldiers from No. 828 Supplies and Transport Unit of Buthidaung Township.

Pol. Maj. Kyaw Mya Win said the two soldiers who carried the tablets are now being detained in Maungdaw Myoma Police Station.
