Military Arrests Three People Following Clash With CDF in Hakha

Armed forces arrested three people in Hakha to question them the day after fighting broke out between Chinland Defense Force (CDF) and Burma Army.

An eyewitness heard 26 rounds fired and a bomb explosion during fighting at about 8:30pm on May 4 in the Chin State capital.

The civilian armed group exchanged fire with the Burma Army at BOC Gate near Inn-Wa bank. According to CDF, at least one Burma Army soldier was killed, another was wounded.

Khonumthung News was unable to independently confirm this information.

The Burma Army arrested two women and a man in a home in Myo Thit ward around 8am on Wednesday. One of the women who was arrested owned the house. The others are a couple who rent a room from her.

CDF also attacked a military vehicle traveling between Hakha and the town of Thangtlang at about 5:30pm Tuesday. It is still unknown if there were any casualties.

CDF opened chapters in nine townships in Chin State "to protect civilians from abuses during the revolutionary period", according to the leader of the branch in Mindat, in southern Chin State, where fighting with Burma Army broke out last month.
