Military alleged to have killed 16 Kani residents

Reports out of Kani suggest that at least 16 residents may have been killed by Junta forces.

The villagers had fled into the forest near Yin village and Kone Thar village, Kani Township, Yinmarpin District, Sagaing Region.

A total of 22 people were allegedly arrested. Of them, 16 were killed. 14 of the victims were from Yin village.

One from Minkin township and the other from another region. Nothing is known of the whereabouts and fate of the others.

Many of the surviving family members are reluctant to mention the names of the dead in the media, fearing that the military junta will retaliate.
