The military junta carried out an airstrike on Chaungsauk village in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, causing casualties, including revolutionary force members, according to local residents.
At around 1:00 p.m. on June 18, a military jet fighter dropped 500-pound bombs on Chaungsauk village. One of the bombs struck a local shop directly.
The airstrike hit a shop where revolutionary force members were reportedly resting, killing and injuring fighters, the shop owner, and several customers.
According to initial reports from residents, four people, including revolutionary force members and civilians, were killed in the attack, although the exact number of casualties is still being verified.
“What we know so far is that the deceased include both revolutionary force members and local residents. We do not have the exact figures yet. There are also injured people,” a local man said.
Following the airstrike, frightened residents fled to safer areas, leaving much of the village deserted.
The military junta has continued to launch military operations into civilian-populated villages in Kyaikto Township while also carrying out frequent artillery shelling and airstrikes.
As a result of the ongoing artillery attacks and airstrikes, tens of thousands of residents in Kyaikto Township have been forced to flee their homes and seek safety elsewhere.
