Man Killed in Muse Road Accident

Despite heavy traffic, few drivers wear helmets on motorbikes, locals said.

A man was killed on site in a car accident at the Shwe Nandaw gate in Muse, northern Shan State this week.

A motorbike and car had a collision at around 1:30 p.m. on the national highway on Thursday.

The identity of the victim was not known at the time of reporting. The body of the deceased was not immediately picked up and taken to a morgue following the accident, eyewitnesses said.

According to locals, the area has frequent accidents and that driving regulations are rarely adhered to, and few locals wear helmets on motorbikes. This leads to casualties, Muse resident Sai Leng told SHAN.

“All motorbike drivers need to wear a helmet and drive at a low speed,” Sai Leng said. “That area is really crowded with trucks, motorbikes, and passenger trishaws. All drivers need to drive their vehicles carefully.”
