Man Dies After Arrest by Burma Army in Chin State, Woman Dies From Shock in Sagaing Region

A man arrested by Burma's military regime died while being transferred from Hakha to Kalay, Khonumthung News has learned.

Burma Army grabbed Pu Tler Ling in his paddy field in Nua Chaung, Hakha Township on May 9.

He reportedly died on his way to Kalay, located in Sagaing Region, where Burma Army was sending him for medical treatment.

"I assume he died from serious wounds caused by armed forces torturing him in a detention camp," a man from the Chin State capital told Khonumthung News.

Pu Tler Ling's body hasn't yet been returned to his family. No one knows why he was arrested.

Burma Army has been raiding homes, arresting civilians in the township, since sporadic fighting started with Chinland Defense Force (CDF) in early May.

CDF formed chapters in nine townships across Chin State to protect citizens who are being attacked by the junta's armed forces, according to a statement by the civilian armed group.

In Kalay town, a forty-one-year woman, who had given birth just over a month ago, allegedly died from shock after hearing explosions and gunfire.

Khonumthung News couldn't confirm if Zar Chi Oo's death on the evening of May 10 was caused by a stroke.

Many families are sending their elderly parents and patients who have heart conditions to the countryside because of the violence in the capital Sagaing Region.
