Local residents, authorities arrest drug users near Muse 105 Mile

Local authorities arrested drug users in Mong Yu Village, near Muse Township, 105 Mile, northern Shan State.

A Muse resident, who is in Lashio, said local authorities and the police have cooperated in searching for drug users and arrested 27 people on the evening of January 26 after local residents made the demand.

“Twenty-five men and two women were arrested. They are from the tower in the west of Mong Yu [Village]. Car drivers often rest there. Many of them came to work from lower [Myanmar]. Gambling parties and drugs are abundant,” said Sai Aik Nu, who is around the age of 40.

Besides the drug users and dealers, the police also seized opium, Yaba, and hypodermic needles.

“Yaba drugs are abundant in the area. Drugs are being sold upfront. It’s quite scary,” said Nam A Kham, resident of Muse.

The arrested people have been sent to Muse Police Station.
