At least 10 junta troops, including a captain, killed in Ye fighting

Fierce clashes in northern Ye Township, Mon State, have left at least 10 junta soldiers dead, including a captain, and many others injured, according to local resistance sources.

The fighting began on September 10 when junta columns of several hundred troops advanced into villages in northern Ye Township, leading to ongoing clashes with joint resistance forces.

Resistance groups said the military junta has suffered significant losses, including more than 10 soldiers killed and numerous others wounded.

“The junta side has taken heavy losses in the fighting. The resistance forces are continuing guerrilla attacks, and the situation remains tense,” said a local source close to the resistance.

Independent Mon News Agency has not been able to independently verify the reported junta casualties.

According to local reports, around 400 junta troops are now deployed along the northern part of Ye Township and the Union Highway (Route No. 8), extending their operations toward the southern area of Thanbyuzayat Township.

Residents said the military junta’s columns have been firing mortar shells indiscriminately into villages suspected of harboring resistance fighters.

The resistance forces involved in the fighting include the Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF), Ye People’s Defence Force (YPDF), Ramanya Mon Army (RMA), Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 27, Company 1, Tactics 33 Anti-Insurgency Unit, and Tabinshwehti Allied Force.

Clashes are expected to intensify as junta troops remain stationed in the area, attempting to retake control of the Thanbyuzayat–Ye–Dawei section of the Union Highway, which is largely under the control of joint resistance forces.
