The junta carried out heavy airstrikes along the border between southern Chin State and Yaw Township in Magway Region, and continues to airdrop supplies and ammunition to the artillery battalion based in Kyaukhtu Village.
Around noon on April 30, five fighter jets taking off from Tada-U Airbase in Mandalay Region, Magway Airbase in Magway Region, and Aylar Airbase in Naypyidaw carried out at least 10 bombing runs on Mintat and Kyaukhtu villages in Magway Region.
On April 29, fighter jets from Tada-U and Magway airbases carried out an unprovoked bombing of the Mone River bridge near Kyindwe (Kyatwee) town in Chin State, killing 9 civilians and injuring 4 others.
Furthermore, 3 junta aircraft dropped at least 10 bombs on Gangaw and Tilin townships in Magway Region, according to Ray of Yaw, a local media outlet.
In the meantime, the junta has been airdropping ammunition and supplies to Artillery Battalion 368 in Kyaukhtu. At around 1:00 pm on April 30, a Y-12 utility aircraft took off from Magway Airbase and parachuted packages of food and ammunition at least eight times, Ray of Yaw reported.
On the morning of April 29, a Y-8 aircraft also airdropped supplies to the base; however, it contained ammunition and weapons rather than rations, according to an analyst who monitors the junta’s supply missions. A fighter jet was also conducting a security patrol while the Y-12 carried out the airdrop.
In addition, a convoy of about 500 junta troops and 30 military trucks began moving toward the border areas between southern Chin State and Magway Region on April 26. Dispatched from Pyin Oo Lwin town in Mandalay Region, the convoy passed through Meiktila and Kyaukpadaung and reached the Seikphyu–Pauk crossroads in Magway Region on the morning of April 30. The convoy is believed to be heading toward Saw Township in the same region.
Ray of Yaw urged local communities to remain extra vigilant, noting that Artillery Battalion 368 has recently received airdropped ammunition, which could lead to intensified indiscriminate shelling in nearby residential areas, as well as the possibility of further junta airstrikes.
