On October 29 and 30, the Myanmar Air Force is said to have conducted airstrikes on four townships in Rakhine State, resulting in the deaths of nearly 10 civilians and injuries to around 20 others.
The townships that experienced bombings included Kyaukphyu, Rathedaung, Pauktaw, and Ponnagyun.
On October 30, it was reported that the Myanmar Air Force used jet fighters to bomb the village of Zinchaung Konbwe in the Zinchaung area of Kyaukphyu township, which is under the control of the AA. This attack resulted in the deaths of five civilians, including women, and injured over ten others.
A resident of Zin Chaung village informed the news agency that at approximately 4 pm on October 30, a jet fighter dropped two 500-pound bombs in rapid succession.
At midday on October 30, the military stationed in Sittwe struck the village of Aw Zee Kai, located in Rathedaung Township and controlled by the AA, resulting in the death of one villager and injuries to two others.
The individual who passed away was identified as U Htun Aye Hlaing, aged 52, from the village. The injured individuals were Ko Phyo Wai Htun, aged 22, and U Maung Maung Htay, aged 38.
“One person passed away immediately. Two additional individuals sustained injuries. Several houses were damaged," a local resident mentioned.
On October 29, at approximately 2 pm, a battalion located in Sittwe discharged five rounds of artillery towards Taung Nyo Village in Pauktaw Township, resulting in the death of a 5-year-old girl and injuring two additional individuals.
The girl who has passed away was from Pauktaw Township. Ma Zin Cho Ei, aged 5, was the daughter of U Nay Zaw Htun, who resides in Taung Nyo village. Her father, U Nay Zaw Htun (30), sustained injuries alongside another respected elder from the village.
On October 30, at approximately 1:30 p.m., two fighter jets from the terrorist army dropped five 500-pound bombs on the town of Ponnagyun, which is under the control of the Arakan Army (AA).
A resident of Ponnagyun reported that there were no injuries since the town was empty after the conflict, although several structures sustained damage.
The military government of Myanmar has increased airstrikes on villages and communities in Rakhine State as a means to apply pressure on the Arakan Army (AA) since the ceasefire with the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) commenced in northern Shan State on October 29.
