Junta aircraft bombed Thuklai (Htuklai) Village in Tedim Township, Chin State, destroying several buildings, including dormitories in the village high school compound and several religious structures. Locals reported that the junta carried out the airstrike at around 12:21 am on November 20.

“The bombings started just after midnight. The first one hit at around 12:21 am, and about ten minutes later we heard another explosion. Our whole house shook, and the windows and doors burst open from the force. We were too afraid to sleep the entire night,” a woman from Thuklai Village said.

The two bombs dropped by the junta aircraft damaged the dormitory, main bathroom, and cafeteria in the village’s High School compound. The village church and nearby religious buildings were also hit. Several houses sustained damage as well, but no villagers were injured.

Thuklai is one of the long-established villages in Tedim Township, with a government primary school that opened in 1929 and a high school established in 1947.

Thuklai Village Basic Education High School is a fully equipped institution with facilities such as dormitories, and is regarded as a historic educational center in the Chin Mountains, having been established during the British colonial era.
