A bomb exploded during a meeting of a Military Council administration group and local residents being held in the compound of Bawdhikone Pagoda in Mandalay on 1 September.

One man was injured.

According to the local police, on 1 September at about 10 am, a motorcyclist fired a homemade grenade into the Bawdhikone Pagoda compound.

"We all ran as soon as the explosion occurred. At the Bawdhikone Pagoda's entrance, an elderly guy was discovered to have been struck," stated a participant in the gathering.

After the explosion, an unexploded handmade mine was found in a garbage bin, according to local residents.

The Myanmar junta has been organizing meetings between local administrations and residents in the Mandalay region in attempts to control areas, according to a Mandalay resident.
