Injured villager admitted to Buthidaung Hospital after wrongfully shot by Tatmadaw

A Rakhine fisherman was injured after he was wrongfully shot by the Tatmadaw while he was finishing in the river mouth in southern Maungdaw Township in the Rakhine State.

He has been taken to Buthidaung Hospital to receive medical treatment.

“He’s from Kai Gyi Village. He was throwing the net in the river mouth from the motor boat. He received an injury on his right thigh after the 551st battalion wrongfully fired at him from the hill. The incident took place at 2 pm on June 25,” Kai Gyi Village Administrator told Narinjara News.

The injured man has been identified as U Aung Hla Sein (age 68), who is the father of six children from Kai Gyi Rakhine Village.

“He has been admitted to Buthidaung Strategy Gate Hospital. He received an injury on his right tight. [The bullet] didn’t hit his bone. His condition is not serious. The army is taking responsibility for his treatment,” the village administrator continued.

U Aung Hla Sein was taken to the hospital at around 5 pm after he was wrongfully shot while he was fishing on his boat at the river mouth in southern Maungdaw Township.
