Family member killed in a robbery at petrol station in Kayin State

A family member was killed in a robbery at the “Chan Myae Waddy” petrol station near Kyar Inn Seik Gyi-Three Pagodas Road, located in the Kyakhat Chaung Village tract.  The petrol station is in Kyain Seik Gyi Township.

At approximately 8pm on June 13, four unidentified men arrived at the petrol station on motorbike and threatened the owner, Chit Aung and his family with guns. The robbers took their jewelry and money, then shot and killed Aye Win Naing, the shop owner’s brother-in-law.

“It was late at night when the robbery took place. The shopkeeper was also beaten. He was carrying a large amount of jewelry and cash. The shopkeeper’s brother-in-law was shot dead,”  said a Kyar Inn Seik Kyi resident.

Aye Win Naing was shot four times in the head and died on the spot.

Two gold bracelets, two gold rings, a platinum necklace and a diamond ring were taken, with an estimated total value of 240 lakh kyats.

The robbers also set off a landmine at the front door,  before leaving by motorcycle.

State Administrative Council  security officials are searching for the four robbers.

There have been frequent clashes between the Burmese Army and the Karen National Union- People’s Defense Forces in the past few months in and around Kyar Inn Seik Kyi.
