Drone Bomb Drop Injures Three Children in Hpruso Township

In the eastern part of Hpruso Township in Kayah (Karenni) State, three civilian children were injured when a military drone bombed a village without any ongoing fighting, as reported by residents and assisting individuals

On August 23, the Military Council's No. 14 High Military Training School launched a drone attack on a village inhabited by the civilians in the eastern part of Hpruso Township. This attack occurred without any ongoing fighting, and as a result, children were injured.

"There is no ongoing conflict here. At this point, it can be characterized as a deliberate assault. Drones are being utilized to drop bombs. The situation is not conducive for the public to flee safely. They fire their weapons regardless of whether there is a battle or not," explained a local resident.

A house in the village was destroyed by the drone bombing conducted by the Military Council, resulting in injuries to three children: a 10-year-old, a 9-year-old, and an 8-year-old.

The KNDF Central News and Information Department stated that one of the three injured children is in critical condition.

"The military is deliberately targeting areas where civilians live. In the incident that occurred yesterday, they employed a drone to drop a bomb. This is not the first time they have used this tactic; they have been using drones since the beginning of 2023. The people are worried and afraid. We are also afraid," explained a woman regarding the Military Council's drone attack in Hpruso township.

According to the KNDF, the Military Council troops frequently launch artillery shell attacks and carry out drone bombings in villages where civilians reside, even in the absence of ongoing fighting, deliberately treating civilians as adversaries.

KNDF said that these actions constitute the military council's blatant commission of war crimes.

Since the start of the coup on February 1, 2021, until July 31 of this year, a total of 375 civilians have been killed in Karenni State.

On August 1, the Progressive Karenni People Force (PKPF) announced that 572 airstrikes had taken place during the same period.
