Released from Myitkyina Prison on April 17, Reverend Bishop Doctor Hkalam Samson was perversely re-arrested by Junta forces later that same day.

On April 17, Doctor Hkalam Samson was freed from Myitkyina Prison, only to face re-arrested by approximately 50 Junta troops at his home around 10:00 pm later that very day.

"About 30 soldiers initially arrived at his house. Around midnight, the number increased to 50, and they took away Doctor Hkalam Samson. They informed his family it was for interrogation on the orders from higher authorities, assuring his return home the following morning”, an unnamed source said.

The Junta's decision to rearrest Doctor Hkalam Samson following his release is currently under investigation.
