Defence forces help escaped prisoners flee to liberated area

Local defence forces helped three political prisoners and two revolutionary fighters who had escaped from Pakokku District Prison by taking them to a liberated area.

According to a statement by Young Force (UG), one of the groups that helped the escaped prisoners flee said that the prisoners, who were being held at the prison in Magwe Region’s Pakokku Township, escaped from the prison on 10 September.

The statement only confirmed that the five prisoners are now safe in a liberated area. It did not give any details about how they had escaped or been transported.

The statement thanked all the defence force groups involved in helping the prisoners and said some of the groups involved were the Pakokku Township People's Defense Force, the Young Force (UG), Pakokku Urban Guerrilla Force 2, the Pakokku Rangers, the Revolution Support Organisation (Pakokku).
