Child Killed, 3 Injured in Ye Township During Military Junta Shooting

A 12-year-old child was killed and 3 people were injured by mortar shells fired by the military junta in Ahryutaung village and Kwan Doo village in Ye township, Mon state.

According to local residents, on the night of January 21st, the joint revolutionary forces attacked the military junta's 343rd Infantry Regiment based near Ahryutaung village.  The military junta responded with mortar shells.

According to residents a 12-year-old child was killed when the shell exploded.

"The child was hiding when he heard the gunshots. As soon as the gunfire ceased, he attempted to run back home. However, a mortar shell fell, hitting the child. Someone promptly rushed the child to the hospital. Unfortunately, the child succumbed to the injuries and died the next day," said a resident of Ahryutaung.

Residents say the child was a migrant who came to work in Ahryutaung village.
