CDF Battles Regime Forces In Thangtlang

The Thangtlang Chinland Defence Force (CDF) claims to have killed six regime soldiers and wounded eight others, while four CDF fighters were injured during a battle on 23 May in the town of Thangtlang, northern Chin State.

According to CDF, they attacked a Burma Army (BA) patrol in Ward 1 of the town at around 6am, with fighting continuing for six hours.

Khonumthung News cannot independently confirm the death toll on either side.

After the battle ended, the regime soldiers burnt down houses in the ward, where soldiers have already torched many houses.

According to local counts, the junta has destroyed more than 1,000 houses, including 8 churches, in at least 28 attacks on Thangtlang since September last year until Monday 23 May.

More than half of the houses in the town have already been destroyed by fire.

All ten thousand residents of Thangtlang have fled to the Indian border, many of them to the state of Mizoram, after the army launched a massive offensive against the resistance groups and people last year.
