Battle heating up in Kyainseikgyi

The fighting continues to heat up after the KNLA joint forces simultaneously raided the three battalions based in Karen’s Kyainseikgyi Township, the combined force and the locals told Than Lwin Times.

The junta’s three infantry battalions – 283, 284 and 32 – have been caught in surprise attack of KNLA joint forces since January 4.

After the raid, the military dictatorship launched a series of airstrikes in retaliation, bombing the KNU Brigade 6 office.

According to KNLA sources, the junta has suffered many casualties, and also some PDF comrades reportedly lost their live.

The Karen National Union (KNU), meanwhile, has not issued a statement regarding the casualties in the conflict.

The military council reported that they were able to defend themselves against the KNLA joint forces’ sudden attack in Kyainseikgyi, and the KNLA retreated with many casualties.

At least four civilians were injured as a result of the junta’s airstrike during the conflict, and the many of the locals are hiding inside their homes.
