Arakan State government cabinet ministers for Chin Affairs and Border Affairs took their oaths for the new government during yesterday’s (April 4) parliamentary session in Sittwe.

Chin Affairs Minister U Pone Bwe told Narinjara News of his plans for developing the region.

“I will work on literature and cultural issues for our Chin people. I will submit and make demands about difficulties with road and communications.”

Chin live mainly in mountainous areas, explained the NLD minister, making it difficult without proper roadways or sufficient communication to obtain emergency medical assistance at nearby hospitals.

Col. Htain Linn who was selected for the Arakan State Hluttaw by the military served as the Border Affairs and Security Minister during the previous government.

At the time of press Narinjara News request for information about Linn’s plans for ensuring security in Arakan State went unanswered.

The remaining ministers for State Hluttaw will be announced before the end of the week.
