The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) said it will try to take action against the military regime that targeted civilians and committed genocide.

On July 8, the AAPP released a report on crimes perpetuated by the junta since the coup.

The report, published in both English and Myanmar, states that the junta committed nearly 1,900 massacres and crimes against humanity.

The light infantry divisions —No.44, No.66, and No.77— were involved in the crimes, and the military conducted the massacre using the “four cuts” strategy.

An official from AAPP said it would try to bring the case to justice at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“The junta has been enjoying impunity for decades because there is no rule of law in the country. The military has fully taken control of the country as well as the rule of law. Therefore, the military needs to be removed from politics to restore the rule of law. The junta must be punished for its human rights abuses and torture,” he said.

According to the report, the junta held prisoners in solitary confinement for a long time, rearrested them after their release, and sometimes committed sexual abuse.

The coup leaders and their subordinates will also be held accountable for crimes against humanity they committed, the AAPP said.

The AAPP is an organization that reports on the human rights abuses, genocide, daily arrests, and killings perpetuated by the military junta after the coup.
