AA reportedly seizes outposts in Kyaukphyu

A contact on the ground informed Narinjara that the Arakan Army (AA) has taken control of the outposts safeguarding the Thaing Chaung Dam and the Min Pyin weather radar station in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, following a severe offensive yesterday.

On December 1, the AA began an attack, taking control of several outposts after launching strikes on the positions surrounding the Thaing Chaung Dam, which is a stronghold of the junta terrorist forces.

“The outposts serve as the primary observation points surrounding the Thaing Chaung Dam. The AA launched an assault and successfully took control of them. The AA additionally confiscated several firearms and ammunition. The troops were harmed and withdrew in confusion to the dam. He stated that the junta army based in Kyaukphyu and the naval forces deployed artillery and drones.

According to a military source, the outpost located near the weather radar station in Min Pyin was similarly captured on December 1.

“The defense outpost located near the Min Pyin weather radar station has also been taken. The conflict is continuing in the nearby region. It is also distressing for the military forces," he stated.

Recently, the AA captured a supply convoy intended for the military units located in Thaing Chaung and Min Pyin in Kyaukphyu Township. This operation resulted in numerous casualties and led to the military retreating in chaos, according to a military source present at the scene.

Since November, the military has been involved in a series of individual confrontations in Thaing Chaung and Min Pyin.

The military junta is assaulting the AA using drones, airstrikes, and naval artillery, compelling the AA to withdraw.

The Arakan Army (AA) is currently launching attacks using guerrilla tactics, artillery, and snipers, and the conflict is ongoing.

A city resident reported that the sounds of artillery shells are heard nearly every day in the central part of Kyaukphyu.

“Sometimes, I heard sounds resembling a crack originating from the southern area of Dodan or from the southern vicinity of Thit Poke Taung. At times, the noise level is quite high. I am unable to pinpoint the precise location.”

According to a military news article by Captain Zin Yaw dated December 1, 2025, approximately 500 soldiers from the terrorist group's Division (11) have been transported by sea to Kyaukphyu due to significant losses sustained in the Kyaukphyu battle.

Under the leadership of Commander Myo Min Thant, the 11th Division's Tactical Operations Command 111, comprising Battalions 212, 213, and 219, estimated to have a strength of approximately 500 troops, is making its way towards the military area in Kyaukphyu.
