4 DMO-PDF comrades martyred in September, fatality stands at 39 and most were killed by artillery shells

4 comrades from Demoso Township People Defence Force (DMO-PDF) sacrificed their lives between September 9 and 26, 2 among them were killed by landmines, a spokesperson of DMO-PDF said.

39 comrades were martyred due to shoot-outs, artillery fires and landmines yet artillery shells were responsible for the majority of the fatality, he added.

“One of our female comrades fell by the explosion of a landmine planted by the Military. Another comrade died heroically after accidently stepping on a landmine in the Battle of Khout Plout. Fatality occurred very rarely during the shoot-outs. Only less than 20 percent of the total loss was caused by the gunfights. The rest were killed in airstrikes and artillery bombardments”, the DMO-PDF’s official explained.

He also said NUG had been supporting the family members of the fallen comrades but at present, it is impossible to support all of them.

“We are currently focusing on the situations of the battlefield. That’ why we are not able to support the fallen comrades as much as they deserve”, he continued.

Among the 4 comrades who died in September, the female medic Ma Zeramena and the commander of the 1st platoon of 1107th Battalion, Saw Albert were killed by landmines. Comrade Maung Frend Min Aung and Comrade Aung Than were killed in gunfights.

More than 450 battles had taken place in Karenni State after the coup and more than 150 members of coalition forces had been killed, according to the Progressive Karenni People Force’s statement released on the 1st of September.

Karenni Local Defense Joint Forces had been fiercely fighting against the Military for more than a year and intense battles were still going on until now. So, more than 200000 residents fled the war still not able to return to their homes.
