18 students and teachers test COIVD positive in Rakhine

In Rakhine State, 18 students and teachers reportedly infected COVID-19.

The infected patients are 10 students and 8 teachers, according to Dr. Tun Tun Thein (Administration), Deputy Director of the Rakhine State Education Office.

"This is a list of the students and teachers who have been infected with the COVID-19 from June 24 to July 5. The schools where positive patients are found have been temporarily closed for two weeks according to the discussion of relevant township Public Health Department and relevant township Administration Office,” he said.

The schools which found the COVID-19 cases are from Sittwe, Pauktaw, Gwa, Maungdaw, Kyaukphyu, and Thandwe and they include high, middle, and primary schools.

"The children's education was suspended a year last year because of COVID-19 outbreak. Though we face the COVID-19 infection at schools this year, we instructed the guideline of knowledge of COVID-19 to the parents and to teach at schools according to the preventive guidelines by the Ministry of Health and Sport”, he said.

The 18 infected cases are taking the treatment at hospitals in relevant townships and some children who have infected COVID-19 among 18 cases study Grade-1 in Thandwe Township.

A total of 517 people had infected COIVD-19 and three had died, according to the State Department of Health as of yesterday, July 5.
