Frequent shootings in Muse Township Shan State

A shooting took place at the Muse Township police station in Shan State, which resulted in injuries to civilians, including a militia major serving under the Military Council.

At around 8:30 p.m. on April 16, gunshots were heard on the west side of the Muse Township police station. After approximately 30 minutes of shooting, the sounds stopped, but several

civilians - including a major in the militia unit under the Military Council - were left injured, according to a resident of Muse who spoke with the Shan Herald.

“ The shooting lasted for over half an hour. However during the incident, the regime forces fired indiscriminately. The exchange of fire was brief. As a result, a major in the Military Council’s militia was injured, and a civilian was also wounded. It is unclear how many were injured,” stated the Muse resident.

He added that it was known that several more civilians were injured during the shooting, but he did not know the details. A similar shooting occurred in Ward 7 of Lashio Township, with a local woman reporting that she heard no less than ten gunshots.

“Around ten gunshots were heard last night on the street in front of our friend’s house. All of the neighboring houses had their lights turned off and were eerily quiet,” stated a resident of Lashio.

“Lashio has been unstable lately. We’re unsure who the gunfire was targeting.”

Since the military coup, Muse Township has experienced frequent shootings, which have also impacted civilians.

On April 13, three bombs detonated at the Thingyan pavilion near Yan Taing Aung Pagoda in Lashio Township, killing 4 young people.
