Mandalay PDF kills 25 soldiers killed in Naung Cho battle Shan State

It is reported that 25 members of the Military Council were killed and weapons with ammunition were seized by the PDF, during a battle between the junta troops Military Council forces and the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay) in the town of Naung Cho, Kyaukme district, Shan State.

On February 10, the Military Council attacked MDF-PDF with artillery and airstrikes.The People’s Defense Forces (Mandalay) were able to fight back in the area near Pyin Oo Lwin and Naung Cho, and seized a lot of weapons with ammunition from the Military Council.

During the battle, 2 comrades from the MDY PDF side were killed, and according to eyewitness confirmations, 25 people from the Military Council side were killed and injured, according to the MDY/PDF statement.

As a result of the fighting, more than 150 people from 4 villages in Naung Cho town have fled from their homes to avoid the war. They need assistance for food and warm clothes, according to local residents.

“ I have been avoiding war since February 10. Here, only the abbot and the village elders helped and organized it. But for more than 150 people, it may not be enough. The main thing is that we need help with warm clothes and food," a local man helping the IDPs told the Shan Herald.

More than 150 villagers from Longkhan, Narkhar, Khaynin (Doepin), Pain Nyo and Kyanhkin have fled the war to the monastery in Hokho village and are currently in need of food and warm clothes, according to local residents.

The ground fighting has calmed down, but the IDPs are still unable to return to their homes due to the ongoing military tensions between the two forces.

In August 2022, due to the fighting between the Military Council forces and the local civil defense, more than 1,000 residents of Khaynin village (Doepin), Hokho village and Kularkwe village had to flee the war.
