Junta officers start military training for Pyu Saw Htee militias

The Military Council forces in Pindaya Township, Taunggyi District, Shan State are giving military training to Pyu Saw Htee militias since January 22nd.

Residents told the Shan Herald News Agency that in Aw Yaw ward of Pindaya town, the coup military council soldiers were giving military training to their subordinate administrators, and Pyu Saw Htee members.

“ Starting at 5’o clock in the morning, we heard the sounds of military exercises. Even at night, we hear gunshots,”  an unnamed local woman living in Aw Yaw ward told theShan Herald News Agency.

She also complained that since the military training started, the soldiers coming in and out of Pindaya, causing a disturbance and anxiety for the local people.

Ward administrators, Pyu Saw Htee militias, and informants under the Military Council are among those taking part in military training, and the trainees will be assigned to checkpoints, residents said.

"I heard news that the trainees will be assigned to checkpoints. I also heard that they would give them guns. The training period is until the end of the month," a local man told the Shan Herald News Agency.

Residents are worried that the coup leaders setting up more armed militias in Tauggyi district will cause more Shan people to be fighting each other, as the Military Council tries to disrupt the local People’s Defense Forces.

Last September 2022, there was military training in Ywangan Township.
