Four members of Red Cross Society, including deputy commanding officer, arrested in Dawei

The four people, including the deputy commanding officer of the Red Cross Society, were arrested in Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, on November 27, the sources close to family members told Than Lwin Times.

Firstly, the military council arrested a 20-year-old man named Ko Ata Min, who was being treated for a gastrointestinal disease at Dawei private hospital, around 8 am yesterday.

After that, the military council summoned Ko Ata Min’s parents to the hospital, where they were detained.

After arresting Ko Ata Min and his parents, the military council arrested U Ko Ko Nai, deputy commanding officer of the Dawei District Red Cross Society, who was holding a meeting at his office at around 12 noon that day.

A person close to the family said that it is not yet known why the military regime detained four people, including the deputy commanding officer of the Dawei District Red Cross Society.

Now, the four detainees are at the interrogation center.

More than 1,000 people have been arrested in Tanintharyi after the military coup, and most of them have been sentenced by the Military Council under various sections.
