Five Myanmar junta soldiers killed in grenade attack on Sagaing bank

Five Myanmar junta soldiers were killed and two were seriously injured when they were attacked with grenades by local people’s defence forces (PDFs) as they were guarding the Myanma Economic Bank, in Sagaing Region’s Myinmu Township.

The attack on the junta troops, who were stationed at the front gate of the bank, happened at about 7:00 p.m. on 22 November.

Ko Thetgyi from Zero Guerrilla Force, one of the PDFs involved in the attack, said: “We used grenades for this mission. Five Military Council troops were killed and two were injured in the attack. Following the attack, they retreated into the bank and started indiscriminately firing into the surrounding area. Some dead bodies were taken to hospital in ambulances. We did not seize any weapons from them because we had to leave immediately after completing the mission.”

The PDFs that carried out the attack were: Zero Guerrilla Force (Myingyan), Myingyan District Battalion 7 and True Fighter platoon 3.
