Resistance fighters attacked Military Council troops heading from Budalin city to Kudaw Police Station in Sagaing Region forcing them to retreat.

The clashes broke out between the junta soldiers and local people’s defense forces near Hlwe Tel and Si villages in Budalin Township, Sagaing region at around 9 am on 8 September.

The clash lasted for about two hours, during which more than 10 soldiers reportedly were killed.

The junta contingent were forced to retreat, while the local people’s defense forces were able to retreat unharmed, according to a member of the local PDFs from Budalin Township.

As a PDF fighter explained, the Military Council’s column made up of about 70 soldiers was marching from Budalin city to Kudaw Police Station.  

“While they were marching to Kudaw Police Station, they stepped on our mine field and then we detonated the mines,” he said. “Then we exchanged fire continuously with heavy weapons and small arms, during which 10 soldiers died.”

According to the ground report of local PDFs, the Military Council column suffered great losses and they had to head back to Budalin City, unable to reach Kudaw Police Station.
