Rescue Teams Stop Transporting Patients at Night due to Security

Due to the security situation in Mon State, rescue teams have stopped transporting patients at night, according to relief members in the state.

On June 9, an ambulance of the Funeral Aid Association was shot dead, and another was injured in Sittwe.

After the incident, all night ambulance teams stopped transporting outpatients after 5 pm, according to an official from the Mawlamyine Township Social Relief Association.

"People who are sent far away have been stopped. Now, ‌all Yangon routes stop after 5 pm," he said.

He added that rescue operations and ambulances were suspended after midnight in the township.

A rescue official from Mawlamyine Township said that the out-of-area ambulance service had been suspended at night, making it difficult for those needing outpatient (Yangon) care.

"It was difficult for patients who needed to be transported to the highway, but for us, it was tough to get to the highway at night," he said.

He added that all relief teams in Mon State have to stop transporting outpatients.

Contacts can be made at any time in the respective townships, and only night transport of outpatients has been suspended.
