CDF Retreats From Kanpetlet Camp

A battalion of the Chinland Defence Force (CDF) has withdrawn from its camp in Kanpetlet Township after two days of heavy fighting with regime forces in southern Chin State.

Burma Army troops (BA) based in Kyauk Htu town in Magway Region, launched an offensive on Kanpetlet CDF Battalion 2 on 9 June. According to an anonymous CDF source, nine BA soldiers were killed in two clashes near Ahtet Let Moon, but no resistance fighters died. The military destroyed the village’s houses and ate the residents’ livestock and abducted a villager from Ouk Let Moon.

The next day, regime forces attacked the CDF’s Vakok camp. According to the Chin group, at least 15 BA soldiers died and 30 soldiers were wounded in the two battles that day.

Khonumthung News couldn’t independently confirm this information.

According to Kanpetlet CDF, BA Infantry Battalion 274 from Mindat town and its artillery battalion in Kyauk Htu attacked the resistance with 120 mm mortars. After firing many shells at the camp, the CDF fighters were forced to withdraw from Vakok.

More than 2,000 people from nine villages in Kanpetlet Township fled from the BA troops before they arrived.

The Youth Force for Hsaw and Kyauk Htu, the People’s Defence Forces from Nyaung Yang and Hsaw and the Yaw Revolutionary People’s Army supported the CDF during the two-day battle.
