Mon national schools to open on June 1

The Mon Education Community told Than Lwin Times that all Mon national schools in Mon and  Kayin States, and Tanintharyi Region will reopen on June 1.

Mon national schools have begun enrollment processes since May 25.

Students will be accepted from May 25 to June 8, and preparations are underway to reopen the school, a principal of a Mon National High School said.

Mon national schools offer their own curriculum at the primary level, and at the middle and high school levels, the curriculum is integrated with government curricula, including Mon literature.

However, because Mon national schools rely on community and donor funds, they require assistance with everything, including the salaries of teachers.

There are 134 Mon national schools based on ethnic language schools in Mon and Kayin States, and Tanintharyi Region, with almost 20,000 students.
