Military says it will kill arrested villagers if others do not return

Military Council troops arrested six Palai villagers in Shwebo Township who fled from their homes at a monastery on 25 July and threatened to kill them if the rest did not return to their villages.

"Women were not arrested and were being sent back to the village. If they do not return to the village within two days, or they returned another day, they will be shot. I think they were informed on by an informant (Dalan) because Junta’s forces came to the place to arrest them,” said a local.

The detainees are Ko Pauk Chake, Ko Nay Tun, Ko Nay Zin Thaw, Ko Ngwe Maung, Ko Aung Kyaw Moe and Ko Pho Kyaw. The place, where the detainees were taken to, is not known yet.
