Villagers flee Ban Bwe village because Military council troops attack

Ban Bwe village, Yinmarpin Township, Sagaing region was attacked for a second time by military council troops causing villagers to flee to a nearby forest.

"Hearing the message that Military council of about 80 troops in four military vehicles arrived at around 11 a.m., we are fleeing to a nearby forest.” a resident told Mizzima.

The village of Ban Bwe has more than 600 houses.

After fighting between the military council and local people defence force (PDF) broke out at Si Laung village, about a mile from Ban Bwe village, in the second week of June, military troops also came to Ban Bwe village. At the time, 20-year-old Ma Ma Kyi, a resident of Ban Bwe village, was shot in the chest by the military council.

It was found that the fighting in Si Laung village lasted the whole day and two people from the people defence force (PDF) were killed.
