Burma Army launched an airstrike on Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 5's headquarters in northern Karen State, according to a statement by the ethnic armed organization.

Two Tatmadaw jet fighters destroyed a house in Mutraw District (aka Hpapun) killing a person during the attack from 7 pm, March 27, until 2 am, March 28. The statement said there were several fatalities and injuries but didn't provide additional details.

The attack happened the same day KNU captured Burma Army's Thee Mu Htar camp. During the incident, at least ten Burma Army soldiers died, including the deputy battalion commander, according to the statement. Karen soldiers captured eight troops, including a lieutenant officer. Two are receiving medical care for their injuries in KNU's clinic.

Tensions between the Burma Army and KNU have been getting worse since the military ousted the National League for Democracy government during a coup on February 1.

Burma Army is also fighting with the Kachin Independence Army and Ta'ang National Liberation Army in northern Shan and Kachin states.
